Run Gum to Offer Athlete Support at 2015 USATF Outdoor Championships

Eugene, OR. June 9, 2015

Performance gum company, Run Gum, has announced its plan to support athletes during the 2015 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The meet, which will take place June 25-28 at historic Hayward Field, is conveniently located in Run Gum’s hometown of Eugene, OR. As part of Run Gum founders, Nick Symmonds’ and Sam Lapray’s commitment to support professional track and field athletes, a minimum of ten athletes will receive financial support to assist with their expenses to attend this year’s outdoor national championships.

“I remember my first experience at a USATF Outdoor Championships in 2006. I had zero support from my school or from sponsors. Not only was it difficult financially for me to compete, it was also a very lonely experience,” said the 2-time Olympian Symmonds. “Though Run Gum is a very new company with limited dollars available for sponsorship, we want to make sure every single athlete attending the 2015 USATF Outdoor Championships has some financial support and can feel that they have a team of people cheering for them.”

Athletes will be provided with varying levels of cash, a Run Gum branded singlet, and product to use during the championships. They will also be invited to Run Gum’s post competition celebration after the event. Run Gum has already selected several athletes to be part of their team, but are asking athletes who currently don’t have financial support to reach out and apply for a sponsorship. Athletes with a USATF qualifying mark are encouraged to email sponsorship@getrungum.com.

“This is an “All Call” to athletes coming to the championships that need a little help. We have made a commitment to support the athletes and the more we can help the better,” added Symmonds.
