Plyometrics, also known as jump training or plyos, are exercises in which muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time, with the goal of increasing power (speed-strength).
When I was training as a professional runner for 10+ years, I would do a ton of these explosive drills to build power and strength. Without a doubt, simple plyo drills were vital to my success in the 800m.
Whether you are a sprinter, middle distance runner, or you like the long distance events, plyometrics is something you SHOULD be doing.
Learn them, live them, love them!!
